Here we are with the latest update on what beers you can find on tap this week at the Black Heart. We’ve got a diverse bunch - three of which are from some great London breweries - which should get mouths watering.
First up, we have a jazzy Hepcat session IPA from South London brewers Gipsy Hill. It swaggers on in with big fruit, juicy notes and tropical floral hops, balancing out the light, malt body and its taste of caramel. It pours a hazy golden shade and has a thick creamy head. The bitterness is exquisite and makes for easy drinking. 4.6%.
Then we’ve got a very tasty and refreshing Berliner Weisse-style beer from Bethnal Green’s Redchurch brewery. The Tartelette Urban Farmhouse is part of Redchurch’s Wild Series - a range of beers brewed with “wild yeasts, mixed and bacterial fermentation and foraged and cultivated ingredients some of which are fermented and aged and matured in a variety of oak barrels”. At 4.5%, the Tartelette is another easy drinker, with a soft and zingy sour edge. Its fruity, tart taste with notes of lemon and grapefruit work well with the dry, medium body.
From east London, we have 40FT Brewery’s answer to a Hefeweizen, the Street Weiss. This wheat ale has a hazy golden-amber colour and a small head. The aromas and flavour are fruity, with notes of wheat and malt, as well as a spicy, slightly sharp clove taste. Finely balanced, light, and perfect for the warmer days coming. 5%.
Finally, we have the always delicious Sierra Nevada with their Beer Camp IPA. Deceptively drinkable, the Beer Camp sneaks big flavour and complex notes into its light colour and piney-citrus/tropical hops. The deep malt foundation underneath and the solid but not overpowering bitterness balance very well with the grapefruit and orange peel sweetness in its flavours. 6.9%.
On top of that lot, we still have some Brooklyn Bel Air Sour Ale and East IPA left over from Brooklyn Brewery’s epic takeover on Monday. These won’t be around for long, so get down quick!
That’s it for this week’s beers, check back next week for another update. And as ever, keep your eyes peeled for updates of beers and bands on our Instagram.
