DESERTFEST 2023 - FIRST LINEUP ANNOUNCEMENT

FIRST BANDS ANNOUNCED FOR 2023 EDITION !

Returning stronger than ever thanks to the unyielding support of our steadfast fan base, Desertfest is now entering its eleventh year next May. Kicking off the initial 2023 announcement, cult heroes Uncle Acid and the deadbeats are set to headline the Roundhouse for the very first time. As one of the most widely-requested bands in the Desertfest-sphere, the Uncle Acid amalgamation of riff-driven hard-rock & trippy melodic weavings has allowed a uniquely original, yet utterly timeless beast to form.

Swedish heavy-blues maestros Graveyard join once again, eliciting raw emotion with their lyrical prowess & introspective compositions. One of the greatest live acts of all time, German groovers KADAVAR and worshippers of vintage occult folklore Blood Ceremony, all of whose boundary pushing retro-rock sounds make a gratifying return.

For those with a heavier appetite, macabre Japanese doom legends Church of Misery Official, genre-bending nihilists INTER ARMA & London’s own gloom heroes Grave Lines should be a delectable entrée to proceedings.

Ukraine’s Somali Yacht Club will undoubtedly meet a rapturous reception when their flawless musicianship makes its long awaited Desertfest debut. Dynamic US rockers Valley of the Sun will also make their first DF appearance, as they quickly propel themselves onto ‘must see’ lists across the globe.

Poland’s own Spaceslug will bring revellers into a world of atmospheric sci-fi influenced proto-doom, whilst the unique sounds of Mars Red Sky, GAUPA & Ecstatic Vision also up the ante with their progressive fusions of stoner & psychedelia.

Rounding off this first announcement, we also warmly welcome Celestial Sanctuary, High Desert Queen, Plainride, Everest Queen, Venomwolf & Margarita Witch Cult

Weekend tickets for Desertfest London 2023 are on sale now, with much more still to be announced

JACKSON NEW GUITAR LAUNCH EVENT WITH WARGASM

SIGN UP TO TAKE PART IN THE OPEN CALL AUDITIONS HERE :

BUY TICKETS TO THE FINAL SHRED OFF EVENT WITH WARGASM HERE :

W Communcation and Jackson Guiatrs have created a small piece of rock history, bringing ambitious upcoming metal guitarists on stage for a live talent contest unlike any other.

To mark the launch of @officialjacksonguitars American Series Soloist, a guitar brand synonymous with heavy music, they’ve partnered with British Nu-Metal duo @thisiswargasmuk for a live shredding contest (shredding is the art of high-speed metal playing…obviously).

OPEN CALL
On Tuesday 11th October, Jackson is calling upon daring players to audition for a spot on stage, the best to be selected by a panel of judges including BBC Radio 1/Kerrang! Radio presenter Alyx Holcombe, Jackson Artist Marketing Manager Tim Hillier-Brook, and The Black Heart team. The task is simple – shred your heart out to any track of your choosing on the Jackson American Series Soloist SL3. This will take place at the Black Heart from 5:00pm - 6:30pm

●      Participants can register to book their audition slot by using the “Sign Up” button

●      Jackson American Series Soloist SL3 guitars will be on site for use during auditions

MAIN EVENT
The final event itself on Tuesday 8th November will take place at the @ourblackheart, Camden an iconic North London metal venue. As one of the hottest upcoming bands in the genre, Wargasm is made up of Milkie Way and Sam Matlock. On 8th November, they will host a nerve-shattering speed guitar competition that can see only one player victorious, plus tickets are free.

The Jackson American Series Soloist has been specifically designed for super-fast virtuosic playing and is made in the Fender factory in Corona, USA. Advocates for the model include Scott Ian of Anthrax and Mick Thomson of Slipknot.

Join us at The Black Heart on November 8th – we predict noise - based entertainment you will never forget.

“We can’t wait to turn the Black Heart into our own personal thunderdome, this is such a chaotic idea from Jackson and we’re excited to see how London’s best players take it on. Especially with contestants wielding the new American Series, Jackson’s fastest beast yet, bring on the shred fast blood bath.” said Wargasm.

Speaking about the event, Tim Hillier-Brook, Artist Marketing Manager from Jackson said “I can’t think of a better way to celebrate the launch of Jackson’s American Series Soloist SL3 than with this unique Wargasm gig at the iconic Black Heart. We have built Jackson’s fastest-ever guitar and we can’t wait to see what it can do in the hands of the metal scene’s best players. Put Wargasm on top and it’s going to be a night to remember.”

HEAVY HASSLE - NHS RECS x HASSLE RECS SHOWCASE

In 2021 NHS Records got together with the esteemed APF Records, in the spirit of solidarity and collaboration to put together an all-day live show. Bands from each label’s roster combined to blast away the lockdown blues and blow the roof off the Black Heart in London.

That day was so special and such a blast, that they have decided to continue that collaborative spirit and do it again for 2022.

RESTART THE HEART 2 - BANDS BEERS BIG VIBES

The Black Heart is proud to present

RESTART THE HEART 2

A weekender celebrating the wealth of underground heavy music out there in the UK and beyond !

Individual Day Tickets are avail, as well as 2 day Sat / Sun tickets.

Back in 2020 whilst in the grips of the Covid pandemic the Black Heart was threatened with closure due to lack of funding. We decided to create a festival with a lineup of good friends and great heavy bands at an unknown future date. The supporters of The Black Heart answered the call and sold out the fest in a matter of days. Fast forward to 2021 and with a huge crowdfunder behind us and some more certainty for the future the festival took place with a stunning array of sets from those involved. Now, here in 2022, The Black Heart is well and truly back ! But we still have a craving itch for hosting some of our favourite bands out there.. so we’re pleased to announce a round 2 of the festival… again a 3 day melee of some of the finest heavy sounds around, this time not as a crowdfunder, but with a contributiion of the funds going to charity instead.

DARK 80'S CULT DANCE PARTY IS BACK !

The Dark Eighties has been a London cult 80s hits staple for three years featuring a cast of DJs from France, Canada and England!

The next installment at THE BLACK HEART is FRIDAY 5TH AUGUST !

Tix at: https://thedarkeightiesaugust.eventbrite.co.uk

About this event
The Dark Eighties: Cult 80s Hits Dance Party.

EBM I GOTH I POST PUNK I NEW ROMANTICS I ITALO DISCO I DEATH ROCK I PUNK | INDUSTRIAL I DARK WAVE I MINIMAL WAVE I CULT 80S HITS I COLD WAVE I SYNTH POP

Originated + popularised in North America + have NOW been in London since 2019!

In the organiser’s words:

Get out of your bat cave + grab a glass of red wine (or a pint, whatever suits you!) The Dark Eighties is coming to The Black Heart in Camden on Friday, August 5th! We'll be playing your favourite (and some more obscure) DARK 80s anthems 8pm until 1am. We DO sometimes end up getting tipsy and playing stuff like Erasure, 90s Wolfsheim and/or 70s era punk/glam. Cheeky!

How shall I dress on a night like this?

We strongly encourage costumes, leather, vinyl, lace, masks wigs, giant hats, overly hairsprayed 80s hair, Bowie channeling face makeup and the weird like to make this an extra *special* night! But we also want you to feel (somewhat) comfortable, so dress like a businessman or EVEN Mark E Smith if you please!

Tickets £5-10 advance

[£12-£14 at the door]

8pm-1am
