Desertscene are pleased to announce Acid King will be returning to London, playing The Black Heart on the July 27th!
With over two decades of road-hardened experience in the scene, it's no exaggeration to state that Acid King helped shape a wave of doom in the nineties and noughties. Formed in 1993 and named after Ricky Kasso - a notorious figure nicknamed "The Acid King" - the San Francisco collective quickly got to work recording their iconic debut EP, 1994s self titled. Driven by a painstakingly slow pace and and the iconic vocals of frontwoman and guitarist Lori S, Acid King fast became one of the hot tickets on a burgeoning American doom scene, especially after the release of their first full length Zoroaster in 95.
The band continued at a fairly frantic pace until 2005's Acid King III, by which point Acid King were already demi-gods of the stoner rock movement. A ten year absence on record followed, only to be broken by Middle of Nowhere, Center of Everywhere, a record which doubled down on the previously present tinges of psychedelia and found itself on many a year end list, fighting for the top spot with Elder's Lore. Few albums are worth as long a wait as the one they produced.
One of the heaviest doom bands out there today, Acid King will slay The Black Heart in July alongside their yet to be announced supports. For a night of low down slowed down doom, Book your tickets today.
